Do you want to have a husband like this?

Remember all anniversaries, but never show attitude if you forget.
Order the food you like, and never mind eating your leftovers.
Let you warm your cold feet by his hands, and never push you away.
Carry all shopping bags, even though there is nothing for him.
Never shout at you, even it is really your fault.
Love to make you laugh, because it is always his happiest moment.
......

These are some points listed by my girl friends as the standard of their princes charming. It is funny how you can expect a guy to do all these only because of love in today's world. At least, I don't believe it. The major difference between female and male in love is the last of feelings. Women may like several guys in the same period, but they will only fall in love with one and last forever if he doesn't try to break the relation first. Men may fall in love with one girl only at a time, but the feeling will only last 3 months or even less. If he is still with you after, there are only 2 reasons:  love your food or still waiting for the next one to come.

So if you want to have a husband like this, here is my conclusion --- learn cooking and makeup.
Cooking good food, you can satisfy his stomach. Happy stomach keeps him home all the time.
Knowing makeup, you can change your look. Different looks can let him feel he is dating different women.

Cheers!

The Choice

My friend called and asked for my suggestion whether she should keep her job or go to study MBA in US. Actually, she is not the first one trying to making choices between China and US because American Dream has influenced Chinese since early 1980s. A lot of people go there for higher education and some just simply want to make more money, however, the final goal is the same: to get better life for themselves and their families.

This remind me one guy I met in US 5 years ago. He was at the middle 40s and had just shifted to Los Angeles from Guangzhou China. Guangzhou is the city famous for import and export. He used to have a trading company which made him a lot of fortune. His wife is a doctor working in a government owned hospital. He worked hard and bought several apartments there as investment as well. As he said, even he stopped working in Guangzhou, every month the interests of his savings in the bank and the rent fees collected from his properties are more than enough for his 3-member family having luxurious life. "So why did you close your company, leave your family and come to US alone?" I was really surprised that he chose to work as a housekeeper in the hotel in US instead of the big boss in China. "I want to bring my daughter here for her college next year." he smiled the first time during our entire conversation. Because of this single reason, he chooses to work 4-hour per day to collect dirty linens on each floor and the other 4 to stand in a hot laundry room to fold linens. Actually, until today, I still can not understand his choice. I am still wondering whether he wants to fulfill his own dream or her daughter's.

His story can not stop me to keep thinking about my parents' generation. They were born at 1950s so we called them the generation growing up with the new China:
---At their childhood, there was a 3-year Natural Disaster period. They remembered that they were short of food and nutrition. One bowl of rice was shared among brothers and sisters. Tasting meat was a dream for years.
---At their teenage, there was the famous Culture Revolution. They could not peacefully study in School because they were taught that knowledge is useless. At least one student of each family in cities had to be sent to work in farms in remote area to help farmers according to the rules that time. The group of these students were called "Zhi Qing" ( in Chinese, means the educated young people). Until today, a lot of them still stay there because of the marriages with the locals.
---At their twenties, the first time in life they could make their own choice --- going back to city, come back to school or keep working. Since most of them had started their small family and the number of people could be selected to enter universities was very less, more people decided to not change their lives. However, a group of them was brave enough to travel around the half of the Earth to experience the spirit of freedom in US.
---At their thirties, the single-child policy had launched. Maybe they still clearly remembered terrible experiences with their brothers and sisters at the 3-year Natural Disaster period, people accepted it quite peacefully. It was better to safe their salary for Sony TV, Sanyang radio or fridge. At the meantime, some of them at the other sides of Pacific Ocean had generated more and more fortunes because of their hard work.
---At their forties, the door of Chinese economy and market opened! More and more new ideas and technologies came to Chinese people's daily life. They want to give all best things for their kids not only they are the only one as well as these kids are their hopes to fulfill their uncompleted dreams.Whatever they could not do during their time, they do not want their kids to experience the same sadness they went through. So here we are, the luckiest generation so far. Whatever we ask or do not ask, our parents are always ready to give their best to satisfy us. Hearing the successful stories of their friends in US, some of them planed to let their kids to try their lucks. They believe that their kids will get into the best colleges and have the best life in US because it is the best country in the world as people said.
---At their fifties,  it is suppose to be the best time in their life. You must think that they must get enough saving after working for many years.Their kids have already started their jobs and became independent. They can enjoy their lives. Unfortunately, if they have a boy, many of them have to make the down payment or even take care of the home loan of his apartment. Today, if a boy want to get marry especially in big cities, having his own apartment has become an important condition. If the girl is from a wealth family, the location of the apartment is also requested. The real estate price is extremely high in China comparing with the salary of young people could get, so the responsibility again become parents'. You will say that parents have the right to say no, but our kindest Chinese parents always feel shame to disappoint their children. Of course, most of girls family help to purchase furniture, electronic products or pay for interior design which also is not a small amount. Actually, nobody knows when all these standards are made, but everybody understands they are followed because of the love for children - best living condition and wedding memory. However, sadly some people take it as a competition or the time to show off ... Recently, there is a new group of people called "Luo Hun Zu" (in Chinese, means Naked Marriage Group).  They are young couples who finally realize that it is not necessary to stress themselves and both of their parents to own an apartment or decorate the house for the marriage. They decide to live in rental apartments and even not hold any wedding ceremony.

Slowly, people of this generation are getting into their sixties. Some of them have already become the grandparents. Chinese are well known as hard working and family-orientated. We have a lot of respects for our parents' generation because they have been through a lot of tough periods but they never give up believing in hopes. They created a lot of treasures but they always save them for their children without asking any return. Today, a lot of us think that we must do something to pay back their nu-conditional love. A trip to US is the first choice now, because it is their dream to see America - the super power - they always see in news and movies since they were young.  They also use their entire life to build up China and hope one day their kids can stay in a country like America. Nowadays, when America is rising the topic of Chinese Super Power, Chinese are talking about enjoying in peaceful life we finally got. Our parents teaches us that you may not control the fate, but it is your choice to make your life different, however, never give up easily when facing the difficulties, the opportunity is always there for the people who is prepared to grasp it.

At last but not the least, to all parents in the world, you are all equally great!

Green, Blue, White

Couple's spot

After a busy week, I went to Pune for a small vacation. Pune is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra after Mumbai. Normally, it takes about 2 or 3 hours to drive. The highway connecting these two cities is the best I have seen in India not only because of the smooth of roads as well as the view out of the window. The whole world is just full of green, blue and white. If you are lucky, you can also see monkeys sitting on the roadside.

The Entrance
This time, my local friends took me to visit Sinhagad Fort ---"The Lion's Fort" in Local language. It is a fortress located roughly 30km southwest of Pune. It took us another 2 hours to reach there from where we stayed. It has been the site of many important battles in Indian history. The most notable one was the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670. Maybe that is how it got its name. The Fort is situated on a hill rising 1312 metres above sea level. It doesn't look like Great Wall in Beijing , China because the walls and bastions were only constructed at some key places. Most of the area are given natural protection by its very steep slopes.

The Crowds

There is no cable car services here. I was told that it was not a short distance to climb up from the gate to the top spot. Maybe I haven't worked out for long time, I was feeling tired immediately. I reminded my friends for fun that I came for relaxation, not exercises. They laughed and pushed me to continue moving. " You will understand why we took you here once we reach that spot!" They looked really excited.

After almost 1 hour climbing, finally we reached! Such fresh air! Green Mountains, blue sky, white clouds! Everything smells so clean and you can see the entire city of Pune from here. I do not know Indian history, but I thank my friends to bring me here to see the other side of India. The Fort was used for battles, however, more and more generations visit it for joy and peace nowadays. It has become a happy place for all ages to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Made in China

When the whole world is talking about "Made in China", our Chinese are also enjoying this topic. "Check the tag carefully before you buy things!". We are scared to purchase something "made in China" when we travel aboard because we believe the products are overcharged there. However, there is one thing we can not against when we are surrounded by temptations --- "Luxury Brands". Even it is "made in China", the price is much more cheaper in US or Europe according to many people's experiences. Don't ask me why, sometimes we also feel funny that we have to go so far to buy "made in China" products.

When the rest of world is buying "made in China", we in China, we prefer something made in somewhere else. What are Chinese's favorite "Made in XXX"?  Let me give you some clues:

1. Car
With the rise of number of "Fu Er Dai"s ( in Chinese, means rich second generations who enjoys the fortunes made by their parents), car has become a luxury toy nowadays. They buy cars not because they need them for work, it is all about showing the others their status. Among all car brands all over the world, the winner is " Made in Germany"! If you walk on the main streets in big cities like Shanghai and Hangzhou, it is not difficult to find " BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz ". Whenever it drives by, a lot of pedestrians will stop and look at it with eye and envy. It has also become a trend to buy them to approve your achievement among high paid working class. I believe you will see more and more of these brands on the streets soon.

2.  Fashion
China is now the world's third-largest luxury goods market, worth 160 billion yuan (US$25 billion) a year. It is estimated that the country will surpass Japan and US over the next three years to become the largest luxury market in the world. Among all fashion brands, the winning title is shared between "Made in France" and "Made in Italy". Do not surprise if you see ladies wearing or carrying " Louis Vuitton " or "Gucci" anywhere on the streets in big cities, because they are already on the top of their must-have list. Recently, LV opens 16th global flagship store in Shanghai, because they has seen the potential. I think Gucci flagship store is on the way soon.

3.  Education
When the whole world questions how Ye Shi Wen can swim that fast, we know that she really made it by her hard work. All Chinese Kids are born to study hard and train hard because it is how we believe we can achieve more in our life. When all kids study hard, the new problems existed "How can you make your own kid outstanding?" So today, we have a group of people called "Hai Gui Pai" (in Chinese, means people got high education aboard and back for jobs). Among all of them, "Made in UK" gets the gold medal! Although the tuition is very expensive, the quality of education is worldly famous. Of course, English speaking country like US, Australia, and Canada is also popular, however, less people come back due to more opportunity of immigration. If you have the education background in UK, job hunting is only about your preference.

4. Sex Knowledge
Today, Chinese are not as big fan of Japanese Technology as before since we love iPhone and Samsung Galaxy more. However, there is one thing we could not live without "Made in Japan". Even it is not legal in China to sell or show the DVDs or books, smart Chinese people can figure out the other way. There are millions and millions people have been educated by Japanese skills and movements; and there are thousands and thousands of them are dreaming to have a Japanese girlfriend; and there are hundreds and hundreds of them have been in Japan to fulfill their dreams. Can't image that 20 yuan (US$3) one piece can bring such a luxurious satisfaction.

Last but not the least, US! Actually US is the country having the most "Made in China". You have our most talented people in Science, business, sports and so on. You have many of our richest companies listed on your stock market. Even we have some different opinions, but somehow we can not live without each other.

How to sell yourself in Love Market

There is a survey going on these days on radio. The question is " Do you prefer love marriage or arrange marriage?"Actually, doesn't matter how you meet each other, in my opinion, the most important thing is you should know how to sell yourself to the right person in a right way. It is quite interesting to apply 4Cs (we learn in sales and marketing) to explain this case.

1. C :   "consumer",  here it represents whom you love to sell yourself to.
Once you meet someone matching your idea, you must figure out what he/she is looking for as well. It is your task to focus to satisfying the "consumer needs" in order to achieve the selling. Everyone must have some ideas in mind about how their future wife or husband should be, such as education background, appearances, religions, and so on. If you believe you are the one or after making some acceptable changes (eg: from meat lover to vegetarian :P) you could be the one, then it is a pretty good start.

 2. C:    "cost", it is reflecting the total cost of ownership --- how much the consumers need to spend to own this marriage. Many factors affect the costs from dating such as dinning outside, birthday gifts, valentine day celebration, movie tickets, and so on. The big amount will be the wedding party expenses, buying apartment and then taking care of kids. Of course, you have to share your rest of life together that is the biggest investment.

3. C:    "communication", it is the channel to promote yourself. It can include advertising (direct tell him/her and make the awareness), public relations (become a friend of his/her friends and make them take your side), and personal selling (approach his/her parents and make them like you). Those people who can help to make the final decision are all you need to get along with.

4. C:     "convenience", it takes into account the ease of reaching you. You mush be assessable whenever you are needed. That's the reason that Mobile, Internet and webcam become very popular. Make sure you always have the answer to the question like: "where are you? what are you doing? who are there with you? why you didn't call me?" ,etc.

Above all, it is my personal opinion. It is suitable for someone looking for the serious relationships. If anyone still wants to have fun, do not need to apply. After reading all, you can still breathe normally,  I think you are ready to get into a healthy relationship.

Good Luck!
